Growing up there were six of us kids and we had a Bronco. I couldn’t count the number of times we drove 3 hours up north, my youngest siblings 3 car seats across the actual seat and the rest of us tucked in the back among the luggage or between the toddlers’ legs and the front seats, sitting on the floor.

My stepdad even had a buddy killed in a wreck they were in together because he wasn’t buckled. Steering wheel holding him in probably saved my dad.

Anyway, I’m the weirdo in the family now for being so strict about it… and lots of other stuff that makes me “silly”, like cutting up grapes and hot dogs. They don’t babysit for me.
