It’s weird the amount of parents that try to justify drinking during pregnancy

“I had a few glasses of wine when I was 3 weeks pregnant before I got my positive test! Do I need to schedule an abortion because I’ve ruined my poor baby’s life already?!?”

“I ordered a virgin drink at a dinner party and it got mixed up with a different one and I ended up taking a sip of an alcoholic cocktail! Will my baby be permanently disabled?!?”

I frequently see panicked questions like those above in pregnancy groups. Most people aren’t actually condoning regular drinking, they’re just trying to not scare the shit out of well-meaning pregnant people who fail to achieve perfect abstinence or who drank very early on before getting a positive test. “I used mouthwash one time and now my baby has FASD” is not a real thing that happens.
