We also keep a special bank account for medical expenses in China as our relatives age. We live under a “real” socialist healthcare system, so we are compensating for the lack of socialism in the current health care system in China. Ironically, we live in a western “capitalist democracy” that values individual freedom over the collective, as it is often portrayed in some Chinese media outlets as of late. I fully support socialism for China, but there is some serious misinformation being spread about western countries and our supposed value of the individual over the people.
