Cleveland cop fired nearly two years after he tested positive for cocaine while on duty

You’re being pedantic and also he’s not wrong.

A terminal elimination phase was also observed for cocaine metabolites with half-life estimates ranging from 14.6 to 52.4 hrs https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11043648/

Cocaine metabolites mostly eliminate below detectable levels in well under 24 hours. That’s complete elimination, not just the half life. Unless you’re a habitual user, largely sedentary, or using incredibly large amounts, you can expect cocaine to be mostly undetectable within 1 day of using.

This cop was likely still experiencing cocaine intoxication to some degree when being tested. And I’m willing to bet the local PD dragged their feet as long as possible before that test.
