CMV: Being transgender reinforces gender roles/stereotypes because being transgender is about conforming to them

To answer your questions regarding the trustworthiness of doctors, I would say that I'm cautious of anything and ask for a lot of evidence before believing in it, and that getting multiple opinions is important. Like Richard Feynman (he could disagree with me on this issue) I find it hard to believe that a lot of the soft sciences, like psychology, are doing the work necessary to make the claims they do. The DSM changes regularly, and with each change things become more and more PC, though that's just a personal observation drenched in bias I'll grant, but unfortunately I think psychology as a field is also drenched in bias. The history of medicine is full of mistakes, considering how politically charged everything is in general right now I would't be surprised if it still was, just in the other direction.

How do you "cure" gender variance of dysphoria? There's only one way to feasibly treat it, and that's transitioning.

Well actually, they cure depression with electroshock treatment from what I've been told? I would have to check the validity of that, but when I was a teenager going through the clinical depression + therapy + drugs phase, it was most certainly part of my identity to be depressed. I felt smarter than everyone else, more creative, etc. They certainly cured that, why not dysphoria? What makes it so special? And also, depression isn't always just a drug = win scenario, you surely know this.

Suicide notes, pal. The dead speak very clearly in those. And I said dysphoria was one of the reasons, not the reason. The main reason is usually bullying or harassment.

Alright well if enough people leave notes to that effect then fair enough, that was pretty myopic of me.
