CMV: Nobody has any reason to be a theist.

Telling someone their belief or opinion is "complete bullshit" will not serve to change their mind in any way, on the contrary, they will be more reluctant to listen to anything you have to say.

I agree completely. I also never said I will straight-up tell people that their beliefs are bullshit.

"Encouraging" people to do something can be extremely obnoxious. Think of religious people knocking on your door at odd hours in an attempt to convert you, or charitable organizations trying to guilt you into giving them money while you are waiting for a train and just want to be left alone. So, even if you want to "share the good news" of your recent (de)conversion, try not to preach to people if they're not interested.

Being an atheist is discouraged in almost all societies (40% of Americans wouldn't vote for an atheist president, in many Muslim countries being an atheist results in imprisonment, etc). I believe this is completely backwards for many, many reasons. I do believe atheism should be encouraged because it goes hand in hand with logical thinking and being a realist. Of course, "encouraging" people to be atheist wouldn't be the way to do it, but encouraging people to find their own conclusions and thinking more logically would be exponentially more beneficial to society (and will most likely result in people becoming atheist).

It's okay to think "the world would be a better place if everyone did/was X". It's not okay to think "I need to persuade/force everyone to be X" or "I am justified in hating everyone who doesn't do X".

Completely agree; I apologize if I came off as the latter.
