CMV: The way medical marijuana programs are currently administered in the United States is bullshit and is essentially a fig leaf for quasi-legalization for recreational use

Your entire post is so full of misinformation I don't even know where to start.

I'm sorry to inconvenience you.

First off, every states medicinal weed policy is different and thus has different ways to prescribe. Some places are pretty liberal, Colorado for example, but actual doctors are still needed to approve for a myriad of ailments, headaches aren't one of them.

I'll paste this from another reply:

"Chronic pain," then, as provided for in Cal. Health & Safety Code 11362.7. There's also an allowance for "migraines." I'm sure that one of the doctors at Bakersfield 420 will hook it up if I just tell them that I have really, really bad headaches all the time; after all, "If I don't qualify, I don't pay!" Says so right on the website.

(Also, Colorado is just a straight-up legal state; they have recreational dispensaries out there -- you don't even have to lie to a doctor who pretends to believe you.)

is utter bullshit. Look into how Charlotte's Web) is a strain that has saved the lives of thousands of children at this point. Or how marijuana is helping veterans with PTSD. You also seem to suggest that the millions of people with cancer is an insignificant amount. This is incredibly naive and disingenuous. It also ignores that weed can help people eat during chemo treatments so they have the strength to fight and that the US has actually patented a marijuana derivative that helps slow or even stop tumor growth (though it does far less effectively that the real thing).

You seem to be quibbling with my characterization of the conditions treated. There's more than the ones I listed, granted. Do you think that the majority of people who have medical cards in California genuinely need marijuana for treatment? From experience, I do not.

Secondly, given your Q & A example you have obviously never actually been inside a dispensary. Nobody talks like that. This is just nonsense you made up. In fact the people that work at dispensaries are extremely knowledgable about strains, dosages, edibles (better for anyone with lung issues), or topicals (great for people with chronic pain wether it's joint or muscle). They will tell you exactly how to take the medicine (it actually is) and what would work best for you. It's actually similar to a doctor giving you different treatment options.

It's an exaggeration, but I have friends who have cards and go to dispensaries frequently. Nobody has this conversation because most people know what they're buying, and nobody would be that brazen about it (wouldn't be much of a fig leaf). But yeah, the dosages aren't controlled, and there's no precise medical science as to how much or what kind you should take. This ain't a pharmacy. It's a store. I mean does this look like a pharmacy to you? It's literally called a "menu" and the pictures really emphasize the dankness of the buds. If you go to their main website they're advertising a 4/20 sale. Kushmart is also having a 4/20 sale -- you get a free eighth when you buy $50 worth of shit -- it's like buy-one-get-one. The insides of the dispensaries have all the flowers and shit on display. It's not a pharmacy. It's a store.

Have you been to a dispensary?
