Connecticut’s permit to purchase law, in effect for 2 decades, requires residents to undergo background checks, complete a safety course and apply in-person for a permit before they can buy a handgun. Researchers at Johns Hopkins found it resulted in a 40 percent reduction in gun-related homicides.

making it harder to legally buy guns might discourage a few people. but overall, the people who are out committing crimes aren't using guns that were legally bought a registered to them. that would be stupid.

I own a few legal guns, I go shooting at the range and I have some for home defense. I'm a sane normal person and I can't imagine bringing one of my guns out with me specifically to harm another person. Theres other ways to resolve conflict. It would only get pulled on another human if they were inside my own home, threatening my life with an equally deadly weapon.

however, I log into facebook buy/sell/trade groups, and local craigslist, and instagram pages, and in an hour I can meet someone, buy an unregistered or stolen gun for dirt cheap, paid in cash, and do whatever I want with it.

I wont, I have no desire to, but I see it, its not even "black market" its illegal gun trading happening in plain sight and accessible to many.

sure, these sites crack down on it but they can't stop every single post. I see many ads up for an hour or so before they are removed, thats an hour, thousands of views, and a few real buyers in that time period, if you want to use statistics. but don't ever use statistics, thats the worst way to get data about this kind of stuff, you can make statistics say anything you want if you just leave out one key number or so.

the entire point of tedious gun laws is specifically to PREVENT good, normal, reasonable, logical citizens from owning guns, or at least powerful guns. WHY? because reasonable, logical people are smart enough to figure out that we were given the right to bear arms specifically to tear down an oppressive government. which is exactly what we have.

disarm the people, stay in control. thats all its about.

not crime, crime will always happen. there will always be bad apples in any society, thats genetics, or, if you prefer, statistics.
