This is a doozy. Hate to hit chang's with a wall of text but Brenbum's cope-by-lying technique is becoming so easily detectable and it's fascinating.

My interpretation is they "shopped" it around and no one would pay for it. I doubt this is a thing, but best case scenario is one of those platforms came back and said they would publish it and pay through exposure only. His agents and Jay begged him to take that route but that's way too far below what his ego expects so he cooks up this story. A story where he has an epiphany in the middle of the night and immediately loses the story's train of thought for his nairidiv and says moontower & other festivals (what other festivals?) came knocking and made him realize he should "bank on himself".

On the other hand, the most wholesome comment I've heard from this guy ever is him showing some self awareness with the 'punter on the football team' line, and not in a way where he tries to undercut the accuracy of what is being joked about by doubling down way too hard like usual. If this guy were to ever do a full 180 and finally take an ounce of accountability for all the reasons we shit on him, I'd hope chang's could roll with it and allow a window for redemption. But let's be honest, the whole reason this sub exists is because that will never happen.
