I'll throw you a bone and say this. There has been an increase of people identifying as trans or nonbinary because they're either genuinely confused or looking for attention, which has harmed the community and further solidified the idea that we make it our entire personality. But we don't. I, personally, am ashamed that I don't fill the role I was supposed to.
We don't want to focus on the fact that this shooter was trans because here, in this moment, trans individuals are under attack. People aren't treating being trans like a character trait, but like it was the cause of the shooting. It's just giving them another excuse to dehumanize us.
In shorter words, we don't want to focus on the fact that this shooter was trans because we're scared.
