Cop planting taser gif

You start out being sarcastic and crass, and right away aren't being honest with yourself. Then you ask the question, since you don't even know what happened! You weren't there! But you still take the "idiot shouldn't have run" stance, defending police that kill dozens of people every month. http://www.dontcomply.com/being-approached-by-a-police-officer-brings-a-higher-risk-of-death-than-actually-being-a-police-officer/ I think your way of thinking has eased society into a submissive state where in winning the "War on Drugs" and "War on Terror" we sacrificed so many liberties that we don't even know what they are anymore. It's been going on so long that the cops are now of age that they've cycled an entire generation and the man who pulls you over next time will be raised on primetime cop shows, 24 episodes, and a generation of Homeland Security that they truly see nothing wrong with beating the shit out of you if you give them anything but full compliance with unreasonable demands.

For instance, someone in Austin just won a court case against the police - someone called 911 and the cop showed up, never identified himself, told the person get on the ground, they were trying to explain they were the caller, but instead they got put on the ground and beat up. http://www.statesman.com/news/news/local/jury-awards-1-million-in-excesive-force-lawsuit-ag/nkP2B/

What I'm saying is your ridiculous philosophy of "you shouldn't have disobeyed the cops" or "why are you running?" has only lead us to a terrible place where the cops use whatever violence they WANT TO since they know they have millions of echoing voices throughout the country who will support them without even caring what the facts are.

When you grow up and see everyone in your community not just have run-ins with police, but life-shattering events that for a white person would have been a simple possession of a controlled substance misdemeanor, or a DUI, or a driving w/o license - these situations in certain parts of town, parts of the culture, are a certain ticket to jail. And the questioning for them is much more belligerent and the arrest is much more physical. So when you come home and put the yellow / pink citation on the dinner table and forget about it, they're in jail or maybe the hospital by that time. When you both did the exact same thing but it happened to different people at different areas of the city.

Anyway, let's not canonize the police and just assume anyone running from them is a criminal. Because now there's decades of evidence of their violence to the black culture, from the vague, detached UCR FBI stats to something as visceral as a cell phone video. It's all there for you to see, but you don't want to. You'd rather look down on this poor young man who lost his life to a cop who just didn't have it in him to chase him any further. Might as well empty your clip into his back. What's for lunch?
