Couple sues city of Portland after being exposed to tear gas during protests

I'm trying to make things happen, been organizing protests and joining others, I have a meeting with the city council soon, our demands include a lot of what you have been seeing around the country, but mainly it's a demand to empower our civilian review board, which has voted to fire or penalize 12 officers in the last 4 years, but so far has had all 12 of those rulings overruled by arbitrators from the police union.

We are demanding that the disband the union, and implement a lot of the things you have been seeing (chokehold bands, criminal penalty for not stopping police abuse, etc). The big issue is that with the union there not much will get done, so my group has joined 8 others in the state and are collecting signatures for a referendum that would add a constitutional amendment disbanding all police unions across the state. It's very much an uphill battle, but to get people to sign it we have to convince them that we aren't anti-police, just anti-corrupt police, and that's a lot harder with a bunch of idiots shouting "abolish the police".
