It's crazy to me how this sub thinks the MVP race is close. Giannis is a lock.

Historic numbers as in 35 PPG? Go look up how many 35 PPG seasons didn't win MVP and weren't even close. MJ lost it. Kobe lost it. Wilt lost it. Stop. PPG isn't the be all end all.

Let me remind you that Nash won MVP averaging less than 20 points the year Kobe averaged 35. Seeding > PPG

And yeah, the Rockets had injuries, but CP3 missed games last year too. In fact, he's on pace to play as many games as he did last year or close. That doesn't excuse going from 65 wins to like 54. And it doesn't matter, the MVP isn't the player who carried his team through injuries.

The Nuggets had way more injuries than the Rockets and they could finish 1st in the West. There's no excuse for a 65 wins team to win 55. Let me remind you they started the season with like 10 wins in their first 25 games, before CP3 / Capela got injured.
