Dai Le likens Covid lockdowns in western Sydney to ‘communist dictatorship’ in first speech | Australian politics

The North Vietnamese Communists won the war when the South Vietnamese government surrendered on 30 April 1975 (the timelime is to demonstrate my point that Dai Le did not live under communist rule). I am a South Vietnamese boat refugee who had to live under Communist Rule for years before I could successfully escape the country - so I have first hand experience of life under the Vietnamese Communist party, escaping by boat and the refugee camp.

For Dai Le to compare the Covid lockdown (which was a public health measure, regardless of whether it was equitably implemented) is an insult to the people who were locked up without trial, tortured and murdered under communist rules in Viet Nam. I would take a year of Covid lockdown in Sydney over a day in a communist country.
