Chase clamping down in some different way now? Hopefully I experienced unrelated data points from Chase with us today, but unsure:

-1- Wife declined outright for in-branch CSR credit card by computer and also in a private client rep's follow up with Chase phone rep today. Straight decline x 2; no offer of credit limit shifting. Wife is private client, but over 5/24. But aside from getting one AMEX card in Dec 2016, her CC's before that were 4 new ones in 04/2016, and that's it for 2016...So really just one credit card within the past 9 months. Credit Karma and Sesame scores of 825 and 822, and a big income to boot, + she only has 11 total cards (3 are Chase cards) open currently. It's a head-scratcher why she was straight up declined. Waiting for reason to show up in mail, as "declined, see letter for details" is all phone rep would tell private client rep.

-2- Right after that came home to 3 letters from Chase to me, wife, son that all said the same thing "updates to card reward programs"; in particular the 2nd of 4 bullets says "when your use of rewards may be suspended and how you can lose your miles". One for Mileageplus, one for Marriott and one for IHG...maybe more showing up tomorrow? No details, just "go look at the rule changes on your membership page; just general directions that don't lead you there and no link. A bit ominous sounding.

Love to know what the "new rules" are, but Chase just generally leads you to the not-exact area, and the changes aren't highlighted / apparent.

Is Chase up to something new or am I just being paranoid?
