Daily Headphone Purchase Advice thread (2016-05-16)

Budget:~£100 (~$150); flexible if worth it.

Source: Laptop, Phone, DJ Controller (has DAC/Amp built in)

Requirements for Isolation: Yes. Lots of sound isolation. To be used when out and about. At work/school and on public transport.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes

Preferred Type of Headphone: IEMs.

Preferred tonal balance: Prefer warm and smooth. I'm starting to get sensitive to treble so a warmer feeling with a high roll-off would be best.

Past headphones:

  • DT 770s (80 Ohms) - My daily driver when at home. Love how comfortable they are and that I can just wear them and forget everything.
  • RHA MA 750 - Literally arrived today and enjoying the warmer sound over my old IEMs, but the over-ear cable is just consistently annoying and is never relaxed or always comfortable. When I don't move, it's great; other times, not so much.

Preferred Music - What do you listen to? If your music tastes are very esoteric, providing some examples (Youtube links work well) may be of some assistance to your helpers. What would you like to improve on from your set-up - What are you looking for going into your next headphone? More bass? More detail? More treble? If you live outside of the US, please also provide:

Location - if you are not from the US, knowing which country you're (shopping) in is helpful. If your country has a local price comparison site, providing an address to such a site is helpful, and also what your budget is in your local currency - this is because headphone prices can vary a great deal across the world: What is cheap in the US can be expensive in the UK, or something can be cheap in Japan and prohibitively expensive elsewhere.
