Damon Harrison will skip Lions mandatory minicamp

Basically as a result of us trading him to the Lions he no longer had guaranteed money on his books. So the team can cut him at any moment without owing him a dime. Players want to have some type of financial security and with no guaranteed money left, he has none.

So what a lot of teams do when they acquire a player is they restructure their deal to give them some guaranteed money back. I think the issue here actually is that Harrison might be in the last year of his deal, meaning that they can’t restructure his deal because you can’t restricted a deal in the last year of a contract.

So what he’s actually looking for is probably a new contract or an extension.
