Do you even leg press?

Everyone human has the ability to squat. Its a natural movement pattern.

You're saying this like I said there's something wrong with squatting. That is not what I said.

Walking and running are the most basic human activities and some people don't do much of them. Some of them have never done it. That's sadly a growing reality for a number of children in developed countries. Immobilization is death. Forget squatting, they don't even walk around! They become weak in areas the human body should never be weak, strength exercise or not. They have degraded the very basics, the foundations of their bodies. They look and live like normal people because the body adapts really good, and can keep the inactive lifestyle for years before serious problems appear. But you CAN NOT put a person who doesn't even walk 3000 steps a day to squat weights! It's dangerous and it's counterproductive.

I personally experienced something similar. I broke my elbow, had to get screws and had to wear a splint from my fingers to my armpit. Complete freaking immobilization of my active arm. Initially the xrays didn't show the severity of the injury and I was supposed to lose the splint after 1 or 2 weeks and start with rehabilitation. Doctors said even one week of immobilization could ruin the joint and people should start moving as soon as the fraction allows. There are doctors who are even against splints in "good" cases. Unfortunately after two weeks it did not show any improvement so they did a CT which revealed a nasty fraction that required 3 screws. That meant total of 5 weeks of immobilization. My arm came out of that splint and it was just a bone with hanging skin on it. Made my girlfriend cry scared. 30% the size of my other arm. Getting my hand to rotate a 10 degree angle from what it was stuck at took 2 weeks. After I got enough of my movement I started lifting things. I started with glasses. That's how much weight my decayed muscles could take. I went from bench pressing 110 pounds 4x10 to doing something like curls with a glass in just 5 weeks.

When I finally went back to the gym ignorant bastards would laugh at my "form" and act like I'm a pussy and using my injury as an excuse. Squatting are fucking beautiful and probably the greatest strength exercise if there ever was one. But it's not for everybody. Stop telling people they are wrong if they don't squat. The world isn't all black and white.
