Is dat racist? Hold my beer while I discuss it with the internet.

You're making it racist. There's nothing inherently racist about saying "dat" over "that", but the submission has black people in it and so it must be racist! In fact, you seem to be implying that "dat" is most commonly attributed to black folk, making your call of "racism" racist. Edit: just for posterity, if you can clearly explain your reasoning for it being racist I'll listen...because it sounds like it's the definition of knee-jerk PC policing.

Ah yes. You must be racist for pointing out instances of ignorance/racism. Classic calling card of bone headed bigots. Also threw in the whole "PC kneejerk don't tread on me"rhetoric.

If someone posts a gif of black people playing jump rope and suddenly decides to use AAVE spelling out of nowhere, without even knowing who the black people are besides that they have dark skin, then yes, it is a racist assumption. Just like if I see a brown guy and suddenly decide to use "ese" or some shit even though he could quite possibly be anything ranging from Latino to Arab.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. Black people are by far not the only people who mispronounce things anyway.

Barring the obvious lack of linguistic knowledge, "dat" is not a mispronunciation. It's a dialect. But lets go on.

Can confirm, am mexican, I talk a lot like a black sterotype

So here this mexican guy admits that it is associated with a racially stereotypical way of talking.

It's crazy what people will attribute to racism nowadays. I'm liberal to the bone, but come on now...

Sure buddy. Liberal until you're confronted with your biases suddenly the PC police hath descended upon thee.
