Day 1 / Intro Thread

Good day,

I'm a 5'10", 31-year-old, 200-lb Chinese male. My ideal weight is 160 lb, but my goal for now is 180 lb.

Two months ago, my weight was 260 lb, and my doctor diagnosed me with diabetes. Along with diabetes, I was morbidly obese, had high cholesterol, high blood pressure, gout, fatty liver, coronary heart disease, and sleep apnea. On the emotional side, I had severe depression, social anxiety, and was a shut-in at home (i.e., I never went out of the house for the whole day). I lied down in my bed the whole day so I had an entirely sedentary lifestyle. All of these issues have one common thing: they can be treated at least partially with weight loss.

After he diagnosed me with diabetes, my family doctor wished me good luck with a heavily sarcastic tone. He hoped I wouldn't die before 35. I think that was my changing point in my life.

I joined the gym, and I have gone to workout (both cardio and weightlifting) almost every day in the last two months. I also no longer ate with my family because my family's meals were quite fattening. After changing my diet and sticking to it for 6 weeks, I lost 60 pounds and down to 200 lb. However, I have reached a plateau since then.

Right now, I'm trying to change my diet again, but I feel very discouraged. I did some binge-eating a few times last week (2015-10-11 to 2015-10-17), and my weight rose to 210 lb. This week, I had 3 disappointing "cheat" meals, although I measure my weight today again and it is back 200 lb.

My short-term goal is to have only one "cheat" meal for a week, i.e., the next 7 days. My medium-term goal is to drop 20 lb by the next month (2015-11-25) down to 180 lb. My long-term goal is to gain some muscle after I lose my weight.
