(Day 27/65): What do CFB fans think about the Michigan Wolverines?

don't talk shit about the fans

aw man...

Most of the UM fans I know irl have been my friends since middle and high school, so I don't hate them as much as I should. I don't get as much shit from other UM fans anyway because I still my acceptance letter (actually, i don't know if i still have it, but i had it a couple years ago), so they can't pull the "you just wish you got into Michigan" crap on me.

As a program, I respect their athletic accomplishments enough to not diminish them just because a lot of their success came before WWII. I am a fan of John Beilein because he is basically their version of Dantonio. Harbaugh is cool, even if the local media is constantly pumping out the most inane stories about him. Also, I have no problems with his "meritocracy" stuff, just how he goes about doing it; there's a difference between "meritocracy" and "accept a bunch of early offers and then freeze them out when I get in on higher-rated prospects". The coach has much more power than the athlete and should be held to a higher standard of conduct. That being said, the idea that college football should be a meritocracy is a good one. Other than that, I'm indifferent about him. He hasn't said anything about MSU that would make me dislike him, so yeah.

One thing I really hate about Michigan football, though, is that they get a ridiculous benefit of the doubt - if they even win ONE game against us, the narrative is going to become "Michigan's back on top". If we win next year it'll be "MSU on top for now". It's been that way basically every year of Dantonio's tenure, besides maybe 2013 and 2014 when Hoke's tenure hit its lowest point.

Sorry this had such an MSU slant but, well, I'm an MSU fan so this is my green-colored view of their program.
