You totally missed what I originally said. I said "out of the box". Changing your XMP profile, and RAM timing (something they don't even mention in the video) is overclocking. But that's irrelevant to the original argument.

The articles you originally posted claim that DDR4 is more expensive because DDR4 is being manufactured into cell phones. There's multiple holes with this argument. So I'm just gonna break it all down so we can move on with our lives.

1)LPDDR4 used in smartphones is not DDR4 that is used in PCs. Which damages the validity of your sources.

2)Even if they were being manufactured by the same companies, there is less LPDDR3 being manufactured as a result of flagship devices jumping over to the LPDDR4. The consumer would not see any changes in price of DDR4 sticks as a result of this.

3)More people are using DDR4 in general as opposed to DDR3 (regardless of bandwidth) due to the shitty processors released by AMD earlier this year. The only people actually using the X4 are those on a mjaor budget. Targeting sub $500. People aren't going with the FX when they can get an i5 for the same price.
