In Defense of Caesar

Except Caesar never attempted in any way to educate the Wasteland. If anything he suppressed knowledge; he banned modern medicine and forced his army to develop alternative treatments with severe side effects and dangerous 'natural' reagents like Radscorpion venom.

There is pretty much zero culture associated with the Legion other than the cult of war personality centered on Caesar; many of them seek war for iconoclasm's sake, which isn't going fare very well when everyone's been assimilated.

Caesar does not bring civilization. It brings control. The Great Khans are a tribe that has its own merits, and with the help of the Followers, would become a competent empire that also secures trade routes and provides infrastructure. The Legion views them as savages to be brutally subjugated, with all elders killed, all history destroyed, and everyone else either drafted into the army or sold as slave wives.

There are no scholars in the Legion; they do not seek to learn at all, and in fact, they actively destroy technology and those who use it under the belief that technology is what destroyed the old world and therefore cannot be used to remake the 'new world'.

It's easy to assert control if you have a mind for strategy and complete disregard for human life. It's hard to actually change the Wasteland for the better.

If you wanted to discuss how Sallow could've been interpreted by the Wasteland, you should've made your final paragraph not parenthetical. You don't need to qualify your opinion unless you actually honestly believed in the content preceding it and didn't want to lessen its case.

I'd argue that the Wasteland didn't really have a choice. They came in, burned your town to the ground, raped your women, drafted (what's left of) your men, killed your elders/infirm, kidnapped your children, and that was that.

People in the Wasteland who consciously support and think the Legion is okay for practical reasons are just as manipulative as the Legion itself, as they would rather enjoy stable trade at the cost of people around them.
