Denatured alcohol on fruit: game over?

The waxy coating is put on so they can survive shipping and look shiny under the florescent lights of grocery stores.

It is not natural lol. Fruit already has a natural coating which is the skin. The waxy stuff just enhances that. You do not really have to worry that much about fresh-picked fruit from someone's garden, grown in proper conditions it's safer than store-bought produce. Just a quick rinse is all you really need, but tbh I grew up eating peaches, apricots, apples, berries and other things all right off the tree/bush and it's fine (My grandparents had a small farm). You really only need to worry about leafy greens which attract aphids which can cause E. Coli. But you would know if those were infested, it's very obvious. And you can also introduce ladybugs to the ecosystem to eat the aphids, without using pesticides.
