On one hand, totally a real thing that happens…on the other though..my ex gf and pretty much every one she kept contact with after discharge coached each other through to PTSD disability benefits. I’d often find myself in a room with five retired twenty-something year olds with all their body parts intact that apparently had really bad dreams, and like had to face the door sitting in restaurants. Last bit was funny…because my brother said the exact same thing 15 years earlier when he was serving, just not as a symptom of anything but situational awareness…and bonus points my ex and I were together for 8 years and she definitely sat with her back to plenty of doors. She got $3500/month.
