[discussion] "I'm also thrilled and optimistic about how "Luke Cage" will turn out because Cheo Hodari Coker is a man of color. I believe he gets the nuances that other writers have missed, the social and political relevance that many have read about but don't perceive all of the layers of."

One clarification, 'Posturing' doesn't seem to mean whatever you think it means? It means grandstanding and talking junk and trying to 'out swole' your opponent with empty words. The sort of stuff you see before most super-hero fights, but Black Panther is above that kinda shizz.

And from what I can tell, we just see his characterization during the run differently. I can't really argue with you if we see the exact same scene and I say "Obnoxious" and you say "Regal".

And black love? Really bruh? We gonna go and say that in a super-hero comic two black people HAVE to get together because black people gotta pair off with one another? Fuck that man. Storm has had relationships with GODS, literal GODS, and she settles for a guy she bumped into all of five times in her life up to that point? Maybe you have a stronger stomache for comic-book romance, but Storm was showing heavy hints towards Thor at that point in her life. The Queen of Asgardia, black woman, now that woulda been something. But instead she becomes arm candy for a king she hardly knows as part of some hilariously misguided and possibly even racist mentality. You can argue all you want, but aside from a few retcons, she had about as much chemistry with Black Panther as she did Dr Doom. Their divorce was the only good thing to come out of AvX, though them then pawning her off on Wolverine was just as heinous.

Anyway, the thing I find most offensive is the comparing of Priest and Hudlin. Priest is/was/will always be a master of the craft. Hudlin is a hack, and I won't ever feel differently. He doesn't get a pass just because he's one of the few black writers hired by the Big 2.
