Femmeslash fics are even worse at that. I'm a bi girl, I have a strong preference for women, and I'd love a major HP female character in a convincing pairing with another girl, but a lot of those fics confuse major depression with same sex attraction. I just want to read about smart and funny lesbians who explode shit and fight in a magical war. Instead I get stories that go like this:

Paris, Vienna, New York, and finally London. A cold October morning was painted in 256 shades of blue. A lone pigeon cried out in despair. Fleur was wearing a cardigan that fateful day. Hermione was reading a Jane Austen novel and pondering the nature of womanhood.

• Oh, Fleur, your hair is so blonde.
• Thank you Hermione, your eyes are very brown.
• Existence is fleeting and ultimately meaningless. Let me put the kettle on.
• Thank you for the tea. Earl Grey, with just a dash of citrus, warming the tips of my fingers while my knuckles stay cold. What does your tea taste like?
• A divorce from Ron.

They then proceed to drink hot tea and stare into space for 48 hours, making no move to either have sex or at least attempt some magic.
