To me, atheism is just to easy of an answer in the same way religion is to easy. It is a conclusion that is drawn before finishing the search. There are several ways to explain most things in existence, often they seem to contradict each other. Maybe there is really just nothing after death. But then again, maybe there is. My personal experience leads me to believe that "just science" is not all there is. Everything consists of assumptions worth looking at through as many perspectives as possible. Only death itself can ultimately show us how close we were to the answer. I think you need a lot of confidence in your beliefs to stop searching. Or you haven't really started yet.
