Why doesn't Keith Ellison want us to contact DNC members directly and why isn't this sub going into activism mode and doing it anyway?

1) Because once mass contact begins without oversight, people get messages like "VOTE FOR KEITH ELLISON OR YOU'RE A FUCKING SELLOUT BITCH". If you want to deliver a message then attend your local and state democratic party meetings and get involved in person - where you are more likely to be civil than through anonymity of an email (this applies to everyone, not specifically you OP).

2) It's a mostly useless race and a useless position and everyone from the DNC to Bernie to people here are putting FAR too much weight into the position. It's a purely logistical position and nothing more. Ellison as chair isn't suddenly going to make every democrat in congress magically more progressive. Just like a non-Ellison chair isn't going to soften the Bernie/Warren wing of the party.

It should have been a two week election and then hit the ground running. Whoever decided to make it months long spectacle is a moron.

3) They are party officials and not public elected officials. So their duties are different. Again - start getting involved at the local and state dem stuff if you want to start influencing things.
