I don't think that's how it works

As someone who was one of those guys, I can confirm. I never got to the point of having the weird pfps or being super bent on being an alpha male, but I really idolized that life style. I tried to mix it with being empathetic, but eventually realized that you can't really mix the two and I just needed self honesty and to accept that life is shit and it's not because I need to be more sociopathic.

But I would like to add that the major flaw is that those people who are secretly shitty will actually hurt and ostracize the kind people, and that is part of what perpetuates it. Because they get to still play the role of the hero while actually only hurting people who are trying to do the right thing. People are way too easily fooled by people who use righteous anger to demean people who didn't actually do anything wrong. How are you supposed to see that it's okay to be empathetic when you have one side of the aisle being shitty and get away with it, and then on the other side you have the ""good"" people also trying to hurt and shun actually decent humans.

I think people who are secretly shitty are sometimes doing more damage than the ones who are outright assholes.
