ELI5: Please explain the differences in ideology among different protestant sects in america

Here are a few good works from sociology and political science on the matter. Sometimes they cover the material on other political views too to see if there is form of causation tracking political variables to things. It is a whole field of study in demographics. There are studies in how "biblical literalism" is not really all that literal and how there is a strong correspondence between certain types of readings of bible and political thoughts. There are studies also on language use and radical movements in other countries and vice versa. These are some pretty good ones on political positions that appear first and then there understanding of the bible happens after the fact. There is also a whole subfield of understanding how it connects their understanding of law and even family. Their are also studies on how the structure how they react to things based upon how certain groups are portrayed like Israeli conservatives. This is just a little bit of the work in the field but it covers some diverse issues.
