End of Week Rant Thread

it's a little stupid in my case, considering i'm not INSANELY tall (i'm 5'9"), but seeing comments about tall girls' heights on the internet is so disheartening. wading through the jokes about us being men, or "not wife material but she can play sports!!!", or "short girls are cute and tall girls are handy for lifting stuff off shelves i guess i dunno they gotta be good for something right"... it's like, there's no way you'd get away with making petty comments like that about any other aspect of someone's appearance. so why is picking on tall women okay? why are we assigned personality traits over something that has literally nothing to do WITH personality?

i realise it's shallow for it to impact me so much, but it's really hurtful too, especially as i was bullied in school FOR being tall. even the whole "tall women command attention and respect!" stuff makes me feel like banging my head off a wall. shouldn't ALL women command attention and respect??? WHY ARE YOU STILL MAKING ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT MY PERSONALITY BASED OFF MY HEIGHT–

and short women forever pointing out how tiny they are in comparison to me makes me feel even more self-conscious. like, thanks for making me sound like a lumbering giraffe. that is most definitely something that will boost my confidence. i know they're mostly harmless comments but i just... i feel like i exist for men to make fun of me and women to thank the lord that they're not me.
