Don’t know if this specifically answered your question but for me thinking about false accusations.

Some chick in high school told everyone I tried to kiss her when I gave her a ride home after school. I was just being nice and taking her home after she asked for one. Dropped her off and that was it, didn’t even unbuckle my seatbelt. She told a few people I leaned over and tried to kiss her and told her I had a crush on her. I was stunned because I never tried to kiss anyone in high school. The weird thing is that the story built for a few days before it got back to me and someone finally asked me about it. I was taken so off guard I didn’t even have a defense of denial ready. I was like huh, what happened now?!?

Thankfully she was only mildly crazy and not fully crazy as there were no serious accusations and nothing escalated. Being on the other side of something that was so undeniably false is really crappy. Now I always wait for all the evidence before I make my mind up about something, it takes no effort to accuse anyone of something serious and ruin their reputation at the very least.
