I'm not saying that reddit isn't prone to confirmation bias, but saying they're equivalent is objectively wrong.

I mean, it's kind of like comparing a news site that lets you choose categories you're interested in, vs. one that shows you news stories for categories based on stories you've previously read. So, you're technically choosing either way - one way is just more automated. Facebook and Youtube both have mechanisms to tell the algorithm that you're not interested in something they show you, so you still have some control in regard.

Personally, I don't get garbage in either my Facebook feed or Youtube recommendations. Wanna know why? Because I don't go out looking for garbage. But if you spend all day long on these sites looking for garbage, you're going to get more garbage. Is that really any different than going to Reddit and subscribing to garbage?
