Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout has reached 20 million players in the first 48 hours of Free For All

It’s a really fun, but really frustrating game.

The charm wears off quickly, and the frustrating parts start taking front and centre. Like the bouncy maps where you’re continuously being goomba stomped. It’s not fun when the game doesn’t function. You can’t jump because you are being continuously physically blocked.

A lot of maps need serious balance alignments. Some need less maximum people. Some need to be scrapped entirely.

So the game tends to devolve into “I hope it’s not a crappy map next”. There’s just too many games that were cool ideas but don’t functionally work with the format. Or games that are downright unfun.

Where the game works, it really works. There’s a wonderful idea here with a ton of potential. If they deconstructed the fundamental design elements of the really good games, then built out using those fundamental designs, I think this could be one of the better multiplayer games I’ve played.

It’s just too all over the place. And too much unfun stuff, which really drags down the good stuff.
