Has a game mechanic ever irked you so much that you stopped playing?

The poorly telegraphed upgrades system in Star Wars: Fallen Order. Like, I love the concept of Metroidvania-style exploration in a galaxy far far away, but it's just so damn counterintuitive half the time. I spent an hour learning to beat the freaking frog boss at very low level and my reward is... a chest I cannot open until Cal arbitrarily decides yo install an upgrade for BD-1. An upgrade he could have installed at any given time.

What's that you see? A clearly marked wall or interactive object? Well, too bad, Cal needs to have a plot-mandated flashback three hours later before he remembers he knows how to wall-run or force-push.

Datomir is by far the worst offender, you're allowed to visit it as soon as you unlock the galaxy map and you can explore a good chunk of it, taking on late game enemies along the way, only to reach a slightly bigger gap than usual which Cal can't jump yet. The game expects you to backtrack all the way to your ship and do the other planet first, but it makes no attempt whatsoever to tell this to the player, so I wasted a long time looking for alternate paths until I gave up and looked it up online.

Also, the loud noise and flashy orange glow that telegraphs unblockable attacks is really obnoxious. There's an almost absurd amount of customization options in the menu, but removing those animations is not one of them.
