Fear of tornados

I haven't heard any stories of people getting sucked out of basements. I take tornadoes seriously and have decades of experience living here. I can't say anything for sure, but I'd bet a good amount of money people aren't getting sucked out of basements.

You are going to hear lots of sirens and warnings and it sucks. Do you know where you are located on a weather radar? I take tornadoes seriously. I see those videos of people filming them and they are insane. I am desensitized to warnings. They are their for one reason only. Be aware that there may be a tornado. Those sirens are going to go off even if they think there is a .000001% chance that a tornado might exist.

What I do is, the first warning goes off. That means we think there is a tornado some where. Be alert. If you know where you are on a weather map. If the storm (red part of the radar) is a few miles away, and heading towards you (often there will be a 2nd siren). Go to the basement, wait for the rain to stop.

There is nothing to sweat accept a few minutes.
