This is how ignorant, paranoid people react to fear mongering, conspiracy laden rhetoric. I see the results of this IRL. My dad, a bigoted, gun-toting, anti-Hillary Trump supporter who gets his news from a Facebook circle jerk of racist, like-minded conspiracy theorists, turned an afternoon of Halloween costume shopping for my 4 year old niece into a travesty. He picked up a plastic machete and said out loud, very loud, "I'm gonna be a Muslim for Halloween!" I could tell by the groans and teeth sucking that he was the only one in the entire store who found it humorous. He's known my political affiliation ever since I explained to him that sending me homophobic, "Save the Sanctity of Marriage!" petitions wasn't a thing I had any interest in. He's become more vocal now that he's bought into the whole "anti-PC" thing. He's in his 60s and claims that its a "generation thing" and my generation are a bunch of snowflakes. I'm in my 40s! It's depressing. Can't even take him to a movie without him indirectly insulting someone. He tried to start a "Trek Lives Matter, Thanks Obama" chant at a Star Trek movie that was having technical difficulties. So glad that I don't have to live with him. He's turning into Cotton Hill....
