I feel like this is appropriate right now...

Saying it's 14 year olds, IMO, lets completely politically blinded and hateful adults off the hook. There are tons of people who write hateful and inconsiderate stuff like that on reddit and they're grown adults. Saying they're 14 makes the adults who feel or think in similar ways feel less accountable for it, I think. Once again, this is why this sub's views are so necessary. One of the top posts on reddit was by r/BPT, which is a left leaning sub (featuring politics often), with the caption insulting the senator.

While TD has a following that did the same, this website is hugely left leaning and for the most part the hate I saw in terms of #s was mostly from the left base. As a democrat-centrist, I would be much more critical of the right on a right website, but I like to hold the majority accountable. I expect a heavily partisan sub with a bad reputation to say bad stuff, I do not expect a self congratulatory sub about how kind they are and how the opposition is heartless to make the same heatless comments.

TD has been preaching being non-PC. The rest of reddit has been preaching how much better they are morally to TD. One is just being mean. The other is being mean and giant hypocrites.
