Do you feel a strong sense of community where you live?

My husband and I both moved around a lot when we were kids, and neither of us live near where we went to high school. My dad was in the RAAF, and he grew up pretty much in the back of his dad’s car travelling around SA & WA doing seasonal jobs, before they settled in the NT.

There’s a strong sense of community in my neighbourhood… we’re just not a part of it.

Our suburb is one of those places where most houses put up Christmas and Halloween decorations, and they organise events for the kids and families. Our neighbours’ kids play together in the street outside our house, and their parents hang out together.

But we don’t really get involved. My work hours are crazy, and we don’t have kids. So all that community involvement stuff just kind of passes us by.

We don’t really have any close friends near where we live. I couldn’t tell you the name of anyone who lives in our street or even our whole suburb.
