Feeling a bit stuck. Is it really that hard to get out of tax?

I felt similarly not long ago but managed to get out. I spent about two years in tax at a Big 4 and left for an industry non-tax Staff Accountant position. It wasn't the easiest, but I just made sure to have a good explanation for why I was looking to move out of tax and emphasized that I know GAAP as well (I have my CPA which helped with this).

I feel like this sub always makes it sound like working in tax will doom you to a life of doing nothing but tax returns, but it doesn't have to be that way. And regarding salary, not sure what you're getting paid, but I was making $70K as an A2 and accepted a position making $85K + 10% bonus in industry. I was happy with that and definitely didn't have to take a pay cut when I moved on.
