First promo picture for Deadpool 2, featuring Domino

Sorry, I'm confused, but isn't Sofia Boutella closer to looking white than black? She's French Algerian. Yeah, technically she's African, but not all African people are black. If not for her light accent in Kingsman, I'd have guessed she was Central/South American with a mostly Spanish/European ancestry. You might make a case for her being ethnically Arabic or Middle Eastern, but I don't think anyone would call her black. There might have been more outrage in painting her pure white if she was black, I'm not sure. Rules regarding race in movies often seem less important in futuristic, space-based sci-if. That's why Star Trek could get away with one of the first interracial kisses on TV, everyone knew race wouldn't matter in the future, whereas other shows at the time would have risked alienating their viewers if the did it. Or maybe it's a matter of being cast as an alien. No one complains when Zoë Saldana is painted green as Gamora or blue as Neytiri either, maybe because they're aliens.
