First Year student

I'm sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. So many of us have this year, but it's especially tough for first years. I'm not familiar with the most recent protocols and whatnot, so I don't know what exactly would happen if you failed both classes, but I was pretty involved with my department as an undergrad and have a fair idea of how the student-professor relationship works, so hear me out:

Email both of your instructors and ask for help or guidance on how you can pass the class. Do this as soon as you possibly can. Maintain contact with them and reply to all their emails in a timely manner. Most instructors will help out students if the they reach out to them, especially this year. They want to see you succeed, but you have to reach out for help. If you demonstrate that you're willing to work with them, they'll probably cut you some slack.

Don't be hard on yourself, either. It's hard to account for the mental toll of the pandemic, but most of us agree that it's made everything significantly harder. So, if you're struggling this semester, don't let that make you think that you're not cut out for this. True, some students don't finish university, but there are so many forces at play this year that it's all but pointless to make any big conclusions based on your academic performance this semester alone.
