Flat section on back of head, and maybe receding hairline??

Hi everyone! I am about 2-3 months into the CGM. I mostly have a routine down at this point with a few things I've changed here and there. I got a devacut about a month ago and got a shag cut. This is the only time I've used devacurl products - I figured using them once was okay since it was the only curly hair cut place in my area.

But tonight as I was looking at my hair after wash day, I first realized there's a big flat spot on the back of my head. Frustrating but no big deal - I took some pics to post here to get tips on getting more volume in that area. Then I pulled my hair up in a pineapple for bed and realized that I'm pretty sure my hairline is receding. I don't have a before picture of my hair pulled back unfortunately, but do y'all agree it looks like it's thinning/receding? Idk if y'all can tell without knowing what it looked like before.

But here's my routine, and I'm hope y'all might have advice on what to do.

Routine-

  1. Shampoo with cantu sulfate free shampoo OR HiBar volumizing shampoo bar. (I alternate because I bought the Cantu first, but wanted to try out shampoo bars and well and compare the wash days. Today was the bar.) Rinse thoroughly.

  2. Condition liberally with Tresemmé Botanique Nourish and replenish conditioner OR HiBar moisturizing conditioner bar. (like above, I alternate. Today was the bar). Detangle with wide tooth comb. Squish. Leave in for a minute while doing other shower stuff.

  3. Rinse out most to all of conditioner.

  4. Squeeze out some water from hair with cotton tshirt.

  5. Generously apply Giovanni gel (a couple big globs) via prayer hands, then squish. (NOTE: today I tried something else. I used not your mother's Curl talk mousse INSTEAD of the gel, but I have used the gel every other wash day for over a month. The mousse gave me much curlier hair than I'm used to from the front, but same as usual on sides and back).

  6. Plop with turbie twist for 10 minutes to an hour depending what I'm doing.

  7. Diffuse until almost dry on warm and low.
