Just started the CGM in hopes of seeing how much wave/curl I really have in my hair which I've treated with extremely low maintenance, not very healthy care practices throughout all of my 20's.
Here's what I've started with:
V05 Herbal Escapes as a clarifying shampoo
Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Curl Care shampoo for regular wash days
Suave Essentials Coconut conditioner (apply generous amount, brush to detangle, then squish to condish)
LA Looks gel (apply generous amount using prayer hands, scrunch in with water)
Homemade flaxseed gel (apply 2 Tbsp. using prayer hands and scrunching in)
Soak up excess water gently with cotton t-shirt
Plop with microfiber turban for 1 hour
Air dry rest of way
Sleep with satin bonnet
*I also did box dye my hair at home during this time, which I know is a bit controversial. Really wanted to cover up my greys though and have always had a positive experience with box dyed as I don't tend to attempt any extreme shade changes.
I'm mostly happy with my results so far and know I have only just started, but a few thoughts/concerns:
My hair is looking great when I first plop but by the morning, it's already noticeably more limp/weighed down. How do I add more volume while still maintaining/enhancing my curl pattern?
Even after popping with microfiber, my hair is taking HOURS to air dry and I notice that frizz develops because it's hard for me to keep it out of my face while air drying. I don't have time for such a long drying process. Should I buy a diffuser? Or should I plop in microfiber overnight?
