[Florio] Source: Aaron Rodgers wants a new contract

I should have known it was the curse of the Packers actually making moves in free agency that as soon as they splash the cash and buy five starters in two years, suddenly the narrative shifts to the previous year's draft not immediately yielding new starters. Never mind that the previous draft yielded four starters. Never mind that significant money was spent to retain a blue chip starter along the offensive and defensive lines during the season. Never mind the consistent replenishing of talent along the offensive line that has given him consistent time in the pocket the last half decade. If only the Packers had drafted Tee Higgins (who I like a lot!), then Aaron Rodgers would know he's truly valued.

Surely the path to success lies in sucking up money that could go to his top shelf cornerback, his top shelf receiver, and (although my suspicion is the front office will let him go) his top shelf center. No reason at all to care about hurting the cap when all of those bums surround him.
