boys should be able to consent at an earlier age

your argument was based on assuming that I thought that age of consent was based on whether or not you would do the same thing as an adult. it's not true. I think there are a lot of things to consider. whether or not they are sexually mature or not is one of those things.

instead, what I actually think is that males are simply capable of making the decision earlier than females. I also think males should be tried as adults earlier than females. a young nearing-adulthood boy could, in a vacuum, easily manipulate say a 30 year old woman to sleep with him. to think that the woman was assaulting the boy is naive, and is really just undermining the ability of the boy while at the same time overvaluing the moral inhibition of the adult. I don't think in this scenario where the 16 year old boy is obviously consenting should the female adult be punished by the law. I do think it is possible that the law could be reworked in a way that applies to situations like these where there is more context than simply "adult has sex with minor" and then gets charged with sexual battery and then becomes a registered sex offender. it's a bit ridiculous.
