[UKRAINE, TG: SA] A few days ago, a Russian woman was heard encouraging her husband to rape Ukrainian women. Yesterday, they were both identified and confronted about encouraging war crimes.

While many women are victims of the patriarchy, we must inquire why some uphold it and encourage violence against fellow women, such as putting little girls through genital mutilation and forced marriage

India is still largely patriarchal today and from what I have seen, at least on ground level, women have been upholding it far more vehemently than men. From trying to censor women's bodies and restrict their clothes to blaming rape victims. I believe to an extent it comes from a place of helplessness and a flawed belief that they can remain safe as long as they follow the "rules" and remain modest and submissive... either way it's a great point for further discussion.

It's heartbreaking to see this genocide in Ukraine and feeling so utterly helpless to do anything much of value.
