For the first time, I'm questioning IF I should be a fan of sport as dangerous as MMA.

I understand your point of view, but it's a little flawed considering you recognize that other sports are just as, if not more dangerous. Not everybody watches the sport for blood, tbh I don't. I'm not going to lie and say sometimes it doesn't add to the spectacle, but if it gets a tad overboard I just get uncomfortable. Even Joe Rogan has said he has a serious problem with the conditions fighters can be left in after a long career, so it isn't like you're alone in that realm either. BUT that is part of why not only us fans love it, but why the FIGHTERS themselves love to compete.

The risk of being in this sport is only matched by the drive and will it takes to compete. By taking away this sport, you'd be taking away the one thing these guys/girls love with a passion. It really would be no different than telling a NASCAR driver he can't compete anymore because he was in one too many crashes. To me that would be the biggest crime of making MMA illegal anywhere. You're not only taking people's livelihoods away, but also the thing they love. When you sit and actually think about that in opposition to the side you've been pondering on, it's just as wrong. The whole "Sometimes humans have to be protected from themselves thing I completely disagree with. People take part in equally dangerous activities all the time for recreation, and that is their prerogative.

There isn't anything wrong with having a talk with a fighter if you think their time is up... I.E. Brendan Schaub. However you can't force anyone to do anything, and that shows just how stupid Joe Brolly really is by wanting and trying to do so. Especially, when he clearly doesn't understand the plus sides of the sport like discipline, passion, and a bond with not only your teammates but opponents that you couldn't find in any other given sport. Ultimately, you're entitled to your own opinion, but I hope this post at least makes you think about the flip side a little more. A death is absolutely tragic, but tons of sports are going to have deaths and long-term injuries.
