‘Frasier’ Revival to Take Place in Boston; James Burrows to Direct First Episode

Idk, I think too many people presume he never had political opinions and only did after Frasier. But if you think about it, he probably just wasn't open about his politics when he was a more public figure, and only got more political when he became basically an old retired guy. So I think he's pretty professional about his politics in general. And he was pretty old even back then, so I doubt his beliefs have changed much since.

But being honest, a show being overly conservative just won't fly nowadays. Even "conservative" shows recently tend to be pretty moderate and less controversial than mainstream 90's sitcoms. So it's more likely that new Frasier will play it safe more than old Frasier, like not as many episodes centered on people pretending to be gay, or the one where they pretend to be Jewish. Or some stuff like Frasier always dating younger women, or Matrtin marrying the former babysitter, idk that stuff would be more controversial now. Or I guess the most obvious one would be Niles' always creeping on Daphne.

But yeah we probably will see some forced references to modern issues that may be lame, like Frasier getting cancelled after making some dumb Frasier-y comment, though that does seem like something that would happen to him tbh. Or Frasier trying too hard to be "woke," which would lead to trouble. Idk I'm sure there's lots of potential cringey stuff that could happen, but I don't see it being like, "Frasier is skeptical about vaccines" because it's just not a very Frasier-y thing. Frasier seems more like the kind of guy who would constantly preach vaccination and social distancing, but then drag his feet about actually doing those things, and then blame other people when he gets Covid.

Sorry for writing a novel lol, but Frasier just seems like someone who would try hard to appear like he's in touch with social issues, but would always appear hypocritical or out of touch, or otherwise like an idiot somehow, despite being well-meaning. But I hope they avoid that stuff in general, a lot of revivals focus too much on being topical and it just doesn't usually make sense. I guess they could go the route of Frasier being more like Martin and becoming a curmudgeonly conservative, but I just don't see how they could do that without really wrecking the character.
